It’s been one year this month since the national general elections happened in Kenya. We saw the introduction of new offices such as the Governors and Senators.
And one year later we already have one Governor booted out and likely a few may follow him as well. But there has been one who has been shining ahead of the pack and at least people have been talking about him is a positive light. One of his major accomplishments this past year was to built a park for the people of Machakos (and Kenyans in general, because entry is free for all).
Some people would play down the whole park idea, and be like he should have spent the money on something more beneficial for his constituents. But what he did here is actually make something that improves the quality of life for the people. For all people, no matter the class or background. If you think about it, some people visiting the Machakos Peoples Park from Nairobi probably don’t visit the Uhuru Park which is within Nairobi.
So us being some of those Nairobians, decided we should spend a day at the park and it was an awesome day in Machakos. And it could all be summed up in one word: Friendship. Because we literally sat down talked for a couple hours with no rush to be somewhere else. How often do you get to do that?
And of course I had to take a few snap shots of the park for who couldn’t be there. It is still a work in progress.
